Solar PV Assistant

Evidence-grounded help for preliminary Solar PV sizing, component compatibility, site questions and feasibility arithmetic for Irish rooftop and ground-mounted projects.

No account is required. Estimates are preliminary, source-dependent and not a binding quote. Site survey, electrical checks and professional engineering confirmation are still required.

Ask for a preliminary design check

The assistant is designed to separate verified source facts, user-supplied assumptions and deterministic calculations. It should ask for missing values rather than inventing product specifications, prices, roof dimensions or grant amounts.

PRELIMINARY TECHNICAL COST ESTIMATE

BOM and feasibility outputs must stay labelled this way until survey, engineering validation and current source review are complete.

Catalogue structure

These sections define the public browsing structure. Detailed models, tables, prices and page citations will be populated only from source-reviewed product data.

Workflow

The public assistant should collect only the project facts needed for a technical answer. It is not a sales funnel and does not request contact details.

Project inputs
Source-backed product facts
Deterministic sizing
Compatibility and BOM
Feasibility output

Project inputs for preliminary checks

You can give the assistant structured facts in plain English. The current runtime stores these facts for the session. After collecting the roof or ground inputs, it shows an area-based capacity limit and asks which system size you want before running a deterministic preliminary-design attempt. When required project inputs or operational product data are unavailable, it will return blockers instead of inventing module, inverter, BOM, price or compatibility assumptions.

Site and roofInstallation type, usable roof or field area, orientation, pitch and shading.
Energy targetsAnnual consumption, desired kWp, expected generation and self-consumption.
Tariff assumptionsElectricity import price and export tariff, supplied by the user or reviewed sources.
Example: “Rooftop system, usable roof area 32 m2, electricity price 0.47 EUR/kWh, export tariff 0.185 EUR/kWh.”

Site-analysis guardrails

Roof, map and satellite assessment requests are routed separately from general knowledge answers. OpenStreetMap address lookup now returns mapped location candidates and building outlines where available. Confirm the correct location before its coordinates enter your project. A mapped building footprint is not usable roof area; pitch, orientation and shading still require measured inputs. When a provider is unavailable, the assistant retains the address and asks for measured site facts.

Mapped locationOpenStreetMap may find a building, street or locality. Check the map and address before confirming.
User confirmationProvider-derived installation areas must be confirmed before calculations use them.
Manual fallbackIf provider data is unavailable, continue only with measured user-supplied site facts.
Example: “Run a roof site analysis. Address is 1 Main Street, Cork.” Review the location candidates, open their maps, then use “Confirm location” or reply “Confirm site 1”.

Historical reference product data

A separate reference dataset is available for historical catalogue examples only. It is not current stock, not a current offer and not final design data.

Fronius Eco 25–27 kW rangeHistorical catalogue range facts from page 55; not exact current model design data.

Runtime guardrails before operational launch

Until operational product data and prepared current sources are approved, the assistant fails closed for high-risk current claims instead of answering from historical examples or filling missing values with defaults.

Current offersCurrent stock, availability, prices, offers and quotations are blocked without approved operational product data.
Financial claimsGrants, incentives, ROI, payback, savings and annual benefit require reviewed current sources and explicit inputs.
CompliancePlanning permission, ESB/grid connection, NC6/NC7, setbacks and fire-safety claims require reviewed compliance sources.
Yield assumptionskWh generation, irradiation, weather, system losses and performance ratio require approved assumptions or user-provided values.

Current source status

Operational equipment data and prepared English sources are available. Product prices are dated observations, and the feasibility study supplies illustrative assumptions. Current stock, eligibility and site-specific design suitability still require verification.
